Selenggarakan UKW Massal, PWI Jabar Cetak Rekor Baru

BANDUNG, (BS) – Penyelenggaraan Uji Kompetensi Wartawan (UKW) angkatan 49, 50, 51 tahun 2022 dengan jumlah peserta UKW sebanyak 100 orang dalam satu hari penyelenggaraan, merupakan rekor baru yang buat oleh Pengurus Persatuan Wartawan Indonesia (PWI) Jawa Barat.

Pasalnya Jumlah ini terbanyak jika menilik penyelenggaraan UKW-UKW yang digelar pengurus PWI Provinsi di seluruh Indonesia.

Namun dari kuantitas itu yang dinyatakan lulus sebagai wartawan berkompeten sebanyak 87 orang dan belum kompeten 8 orang. Rinciannya terdiri dari peserta UKW jenjang Muda 78 orang, Madya 10 orang dan Utama 7 orang. Mereka langsung di tes oleh 18 orang penguji, yang merupakan wartawan senior dan telah memiliki legalitas formal dan jam terbang tinggi di dunia wartawan.

“Dari total 100 orang peserta UKW Muda, Madya dan Utama yang menyandang predikat wartawan kompeten berjumlah 87 orang, dan 8 orang dinyatakan belum lulus,” ujar salah seorang penguji UKW yang juga pengurus PWI Pusat, H Wawan dalam sambutannya, pada penutupan acara UKW di Grand Asrilia Hotel Convention dan Restaurant, Jl. Pelajar Pejuang 45, No 123 Bandung, Rabu 16/11/2022 sore.

Menurut dia, bagi peserta yang belum berhasil mengikuti uji kompetensi, dapat mengikuti pada momentum selanjutnya. Jadikan pelajaran UKW kali ini, untuk memperbaiki materi ujian pada seleksi berikutnya.

“Jangan berkecil hati bagi yang belum lulus, masih ada kesempatan lain. Dan bagi yang dinyatakan kompeten, jangan merasa besar hati pula. Jaga dan pedomani UU Pers dan Kode Etik Jurnalistik dalam melaksanakan kerja kerja Jurnalistiknya sampai kapanpun,”katanya melalui siaran pers yang diterima wartawan.

Sekretaris Umum PWI Jawa Barat Tantan Sulton Bukhori menuturkan, pihaknya mengucapkan terimakasih kepada semua pihak baik, baik jajaran penguji, peserta maupun panitia yang telah mensukseskan pelaksanaan UKW saat ini. Dirinya pun mengucapkan permohonan maaf jika Ketua PWI Jawa Barat H Hilman Hidayat, tidak bisa hadir pada penutupan UKW perdana yang diinisiasi PWI Jabar dan Pemprov setempat.

“Insha Allah setelah di Bandung, program Roadshow 1000 UKW gratis ini, akan bergeser ke Kota Bogor. Menjangkau wilayah Bogor Raya, Cianjur, Sukabumi, dan daerah sekitarnya. Pelaksananya awal Desember 2022 mendatang,”kata Tantan.

Mengenai pelaksanaan UKW sendiri, sambung dia, memiliki segudang manfaat, baik bagi individu wartawan, perusahaan atau organisasi pers itu sendiri. Karena secara tidak langsung, UKW ini dapat meningkatkan harkat dan martabat jurnalis dalam melaksanakan tugas dan fungsinya sebagai pers.

“UKW ini sebagai forum utama untuk meningkatkan eksistensi wartawan yang kompeten. Ujian ini jelas, dapat meningkatkan nilai, marwah, kualitas dan pembeda bagi wartawan abal-abal yang selama ini menodai citra dan profesi wartawan yang mulia ini,” tegasnya.

Tantan pun mengajak para peserta UKW saat ini, untuk ikut bergabung dalam organisasi PWI yang merupakan organisasi pers tertua, diakui Dewan Pers dan kepengurusannya itu tersebar di seluruh penjuru tanah air.

“Dengan bergabung di PWI, banyak sekali manfaat yang akan diperoleh teman teman wartawan. Saya harapkan kesempatan dan momentum ini tidak disia-siakan,”harapnya.

Pada acara penutupan sendiri selain diisi dengan kegiatan sosialisasi dari Bank Indonesia, juga ada penuturan pesan dan kesan dari perwakilan peserta UKW di masing masing tingkatan. Baik Muda, Madya dan Utama. Hal itu seperti diungkapkan perwakilan dari peserta UKW Madya, Gingin.

Menurut redaktur salah satu media cetak ini, UKW ini mengingatkan kembali aktivitas rutin wartawan saat dirinya dulu memburu berita di lapangan. Namun bagi peserta Madya, itu materinya mengingatkan kembali tentang pengetahuan beragam regulasi, baik UU Pers, Kode Etik Jurnalistik dan Pedoman Pemberitaan Ramah Anak (PPRA).

“Kesan dan pesannya banyak sekali. Selain membuat otak saya terkuras, karena harus menuntaskan materi uji dalam waktu cepat. Ini jelas pengalaman yang luar biasa,”ujarnya.

Hal senada diungkapkan peserta lainnya Erna. Wanita berparas cantik ini mengaku, pengalaman pertamanya ini membuat dirinya harus mengeluarkan waktu, tenaga dan pikiran secara optimal. Kendati UKW ini merupakan aktivitas kesehariannya dalam mencari dan menulis berita.

“Beda sekali ya, antara ujian dan praktik di lapangan. Mungkin karena UKW ini diburu waktu, jadi ini cukup melelahkan saya. Tapi Alhamdulilah semua perjuangan ini berbuah manis, dan saya berhak menyandang predikat wartawan kompeten,”katanya sambil tersenyum manis dihadapan para peserta lainnya.

Diakhiri acara para peserta pun berfoto bersama dengan jajaran panitia. Usai itu, tidak sedikit pengalaman cerita yang diutarakan ke rekan rekan peserta lainnya, sambil berjalan pulang dari hotel menuju tempat asalnya masing-masing.

Mereka nampak sumringah, karena UKW yang berlangsung dua hari ini banyak meninggalkan pengalaman berharga. Terlebih penyelenggaraan ujian ini tidak dipungut biaya satu rupiah pun dari peserta. Padahal umumnya pendaftaran UKW ini memakan biaya yang tak sedikit.
